blue ridge mountains

the northern georgia mountains immediately became a part of my must visit list once we moved to georgia. i had always heard amazing things about the views - especially in the Fall, so once we got the opportunity, we didn't think twice before making the 4 hour road trip up there. we stayed in an airbnb farmhouse style cottage hosted by Sandra (awesome host, btw!) in Epworth, GA. Epworth is about 15 minutes away from the city so it especially felt like we were in the woods- with the Southern charm. it was truly darling. because we only had limited time in the city we didn't get to check everything off of our list but weren't disappointed because the views were enough to make the trip worth it. we went in the middle of October so the leaves were just changing colors and were just a gorgeous view. we picked apples at Mountain View Orchards which had just enough left for us to pick. our original plan was to go to Mercier Orchards but they unfortunately ran out of the U pick apples so Mountain View was a great alternative! we also went zip lining through Zip Line Canopy Tours which gave us some great views and had some very fast zips! my favorite part of the trip would have to be getting lost on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere while looking for the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge! Lol! we did finally make it to the bridge and let me tell you, it is not easy to find! you can not park your car anywhere near it. just be prepared to park once your car can't go any further and walk until you hear the river :) after finding our way back to the car we stopped on the side of the freeway to watch the sunset which was absolutely beautiful. i hope we get to go back next Fall to check the other things off our list!
other cities in georgia i really want to see are Savannah and Athens. have y'all been? can you give me any recommendations?
thank you!
